Exploring The Riverline: A Private Tour of Buffalo’s Future Greenway

Posted on | Chapter Event

Wild Ones WNY members were treated to a special behind-the-scenes tour of The Riverline — a transformative urban nature trail taking shape along the Buffalo River. Hosted by Jeffrey Lebsack, Executive Director of The Riverline, our group explored The Basswoods section of the project, which will soon become a vibrant public green space filled with native plants, habitat restoration, and community gathering spaces.

Jeffrey shared inspiring insights into The Riverline’s mission:

“The Riverline will be an inspiring gathering space that connects people to water, nature, and one another. It will prioritize native plants and animals, public art, and community…”

This project aligns beautifully with Wild Ones’ own mission of promoting native plants and ecological stewardship. Seeing firsthand how this former industrial rail corridor is being transformed into a haven for biodiversity and community connection left us hopeful and energized.
